December was a very exciting month in both Green’s Restaurants, despite the fearsome Christmas weather, and we look forward to the challenges of this new year.

I hope you will enjoy all the news of various events coming up and the recipes.

Horse Talk: Sadly Efficient was injured before the Melbourne Cup but, undeterred, I suggest an each way investment or Advisor in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham.

LIVE MUSIC @ GREEN'S


Every weekday evening you can listen to some great music while having a drink or dinner in The Runner. With some fantastic cocktails, it's an excellent way to spend an evening.

Valentine's Day
at Green's, Duke Street

What better place to have a quiet, romantic Valentine's Day dinner than at Green's in St James's? The naturally intimate atmosphere meant that even though it falls on a Sunday, we simply couldn't resist opening specially for the occassion.

Our menu has, of course, no shortage of 'romance' including oysters, lobster and fabulous puddings. Book here to avoid disappointment.


 

Half Term in the Runner Bar
(15th to 19th February 2010 )

It feels like the term has only just started, however half-term is just around the corner and so for the week of 15th - 19th February we are serving a children's menu at The Runner Bar in Cornhill.

Kid’s Menu @ £5.95 ( includes main & dessert )

Chicken goujons with chips 0r
Bangers & mash 0r
Sausage rolls with baked beans & chips
Assorted ice creams

 
     

Shrove Tuesday: 16th

On Tuesday 16th February both restaurants will be serving traditional pancakes with lemon and sugar, but also with different combinations of flavours.

Pop into either restaurant for lunch or dinner and we will celebrate Shrove Tuesday with delicious homemade pancakes - a great idea for half-term too!

 

Half-price cocktails at
The Runner Bar

During February all cocktails will be half-price between 5.30pm and 7.00pm at the Runner Bar in Cornhill. Together with the live music each night, this is a great way to start the evening.

 
 
 

Sticky Toffee Pudding

Ingredients needed :

60g soft unsalted butter
90g soft dark brown sugar
2 eggs
1tsp bicarbonate of soda
120g pitted dried dates (rough chopped).
Water 150 ml
Flour 120 grams

How to make it ...

 
 

Champagne Sauce

1 table spoon vegetable oil
500 g flat white fish bones
50 g rough chopped shallot
600ml double cream 
200ml white wine
200ml water
juice of 1 lemon
1 glass of champagne
Salt and pepper

This sauce is perfect with the fishcake recipe

Lunch menu of the week at Cornhill

Starting February 1st, we will be offering a choice of 3 starters ( £8 to £9.50 ), 3 main courses (£20 to 26 ) and 3 desserts ( £6 ) as a lunch menu of the week.

The new weekly menu will run Monday to Friday and will change every Monday. Click here to see the current menu.
